AI in CariCom
The burgeoning adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents a transformative, yet complex, opportunity for CARICOM nations. While AI technologies offer immense potential to enhance efficiency, drive innovation, and improve public services across diverse sectors like agriculture, tourism, and finance within the fifteen member states, their effective implementation is heavily reliant on a clear understanding and optimization of underlying operational frameworks. This is where Business Process Modeling (BPM) becomes indispensable. Many CARICOM countries, with their unique economic structures and often nascent digital infrastructures, urgently need to leverage BPM to thoroughly analyze, document, and standardize their existing processes before integrating AI. Without this foundational clarity, AI deployment risks automating inefficiencies or exacerbating existing systemic issues rather than truly streamlining operations. Therefore, a concerted regional effort to champion BPM across all governmental, public, and private sectors is crucial to unlock AI's full potential, ensuring sustainable growth, equitable benefits, and robust economic integration throughout the Caribbean Community.
